Social housing is for low and moderate income individuals or families, typically subsidized by government and owned/operated by government or a non-profit organization. Social housing in Yukon is available through the following organizations.

Yukon Housing Corporation
(Available across Yukon)
Provides subsidized rental housing across the territory to individuals and families who are Yukon residents and have incomes under the Housing Income Limits (HILS).

Provides primarily First Nation individuals and families with subsidized and low-end-of-market rental housing in Whitehorse.

First Nations Housing

If you are a citizen of a First Nation, you may also be eligible for additional housing programs and services. Contact your First Nation’s government office directly for information on housing.

rent supplements


Rent supplements can be used to bridge the gap between the rent that an individual or family can afford to pay (ie. not more than 25-30% of their income) and what the market rent for the unit is. Rent supplements are available through:

The Rent Supplement program is available for individuals and families who are Yukon residents and whose incomes are under the Housing Income Limits (HILS).

The most commonly used online classifieds site in the Yukon, similar to Craigslist.

Facebook
There are a number of different group pages that advertise rentals (search “Whitehorse Property Rentals” or “Yukon Property Rentals”).
